RMT LEARNING – Covid 19 ONLINE COURSES

As Covid-19 crisis continues, more knowledge is being gathered on the coronavirus, and the impact it is having on society.
Your attention is drawn to the following online courses the RMT Learning Project can offer our members to provide some guidance, advice and knowledge on the subject of Covid-19 and its impact on family, working and societal life.
COVID-19: Psychological Impact, Wellbeing and Mental Health
Delivered in conjunction with the Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust and Maudsley Learning this is a short two hour a week (for three weeks) online course exploring the impact of Covid-19 on mental wellbeing at individual, group and society level.
The course covers the following subjects:
Week 1: The Psychological Impact of COVID-19
Week 2: Steps to Take to Cope with COVID-19
Week 3: What Next? Preparing for Life after COVID-19
A short, sharp and to the point sort of course, which should cover most areas of interest.

COVID-19: Tackling the Novel Coronavirus
Delivered in conjunction with the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, this course covers what COVID-19 is, and how might the outbreak effect the individual, helping the learner find out more about coronavirus and explore its worldwide implications.
The course covers, (three hours a week for three weeks with a PDF certificate of achievement from LSH&TM on completion) the following subjects:
How COVID-19 emerged and was identified
How COVID-19 spreads
Public health measures for COVID-19 worldwide
What is needed to address COVID-19 going forward

A good knowledge of how this virus spreads may be essential in the coming weeks and months, especially for our members who may be faced with H&S concerns as our public transport becomes busier.

Anxiety in Children and Young People during COVID-19.
While aimed at young people, as in most courses aimed at certain age or other demographic groups, there are always pieces of information that can prove useful to other groups. This particular online course may have benefits to parents as well as young people. This course is run in conjunction with the University of East Anglia, and is based on a learning time of two hours a week for two weeks.
The course covers the following subjects:
Impact of COVID 19 on mental health/anxiety in young people
What is anxiety and its causes
Importance of support
Guidance for parents
Spotting symptoms
Advice/treatment and support

Ideally, but not essentially, any member taking up any of these courses would be requested to complete a short online GDPR release form, and inform their respective branch, workplace ULR or Lead Learning Organiser of which course(s) they have undertaken.
