RMT Press Office:
Arriva Cross Country strike action rock solid this morning in fight over rostering abuses.
RMT General Secretary Mick Cash said:
“Our members are standing up this morning against rostering abuses and their action is rock solid across the franchise from Penzance to Aberdeen and the disruption to services is solely down to Arriva management's intransigence. “It is disgraceful that the management at Arriva have repeatedly sabotaged talks aimed at reaching a settlement to this dispute. It is the companies ineptitude and arrogance that has forced us to take this further round of action which we know will lead to major disruption. The fault lies wholly with the company.
"Last week RMT put forward a whole range of proposals and options through ACAS that could have formed the basis for a settlement. Instead of responding positively the company have walked away and come up with no response whatsoever over the Christmas period and have instead chosen to deliberately prolong this dispute. “Our members are standing up for the principles of a decent work life balance and against the abuse of rostering and Sunday working by a management that is out of control.
“RMT remains available for serious and genuine talks and we await a response from the company to that offer. ”
