BREAKDOWN IN INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS, CONDUCTORS, NORTH WALES ARRIVA TRAINS WALES - RMT CALLS STRIKE ACTION
First and foremost, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all our affected members for returning a strong result in the ballot for industrial action and for standing firm against ATW disgraceful decision to dismiss our two members, Brother Barry Roberts and Brother William Coulter under the company’s sickness absence policy. Management’s failure to abide by the agreed procedures and choosing not to exercise discretion but instead opting to take the hard line approach of dismissal has resulted in a total breakdown in industrial relations.
The General Grades Committee has now had the opportunity to consider the fantastic vote that members returned in favour of taking strike action and has taken the decision to call on all our ATW Conductor members at Holyhead, Chester and Llandudno Junction Depots to take the following industrial action:
• Not to book on for any turns of duty that commence between 12.00 (midday) hours on Friday 10th October 2014 until 11.59 hours on Saturday 11th October 2014
Once again, congratulations for standing shoulder to shoulder and voting in favour of taking industrial action. I urge you to continue your magnificent support for your union and solidarity with your colleagues in this dispute.
