TO ALL ISS VIRGIN TRAINS EAST COAST MEMBERS

Dear Colleague,

Breakdown in Industrial Relations – ISS (Virgin Trains East Coast)

An alarming report has been received from our Leeds City Branch informing us that our ISS (VTEC) Members based in Leeds are being forced to stay over-night and re-locate to Kings Cross on Thursday 10th March and Friday 11th March. This is a clear attempt by the company to force our members to undermine their colleagues taking entirely lawful strike action at Kings Cross.

Our members employed at Leeds are disgusted by the company’s clear disregard for their wellbeing and personal commitments. These instructions are a complete breach of their Terms and Conditions of Employment, particularly noting that the distance between Kings Cross and their recognised and designated home destination are not within a reasonable distance. It is made significantly worse with the company’s use of bullying tactics and the clear threats being made to staff across the VTEC line. The clear intimidation over our member’s future when they protest at these unacceptable instructions is abhorrent.

We remain in dispute with ISS over a Breakdown in Industrial Relations at Kings Cross and the planned industrial action will go ahead. However, due to the company’s disgraceful behaviour we will be extending the dispute across the whole VTEC contract over the breach of our member’s terms and conditions. There is now obviously a complete breakdown in industrial relations across this contract. The necessary arrangements are being made to prepare a ballot of you and your colleagues for industrial action. The company have been informed that we are now in a dispute situation regarding the whole VTEC line and that as always we remain open to all discussions to resolve the dispute.

I urge you to send ISS a clear message that their bullying and intimidation will not be tolerated. We must stand shoulder to shoulder and demand ISS resolve our issues. A clear message must be send to ISS that their shameful and immoral behaviour will be met by a strong and united union.

SUPPORT YOUR UNION
SUPPORT THE ACTION
UNITY IS STRENGTH
Yours sincerely

General Secretary
