BREAKDOWN IN INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS – RAIL GOURMET (EUROSTAR CONTRACT)
STRIKE ACTION SUSPENDED

Further to my letter dated the 20th August 2015 with regards to the above matter and where I notified you of the new dates for industrial action, I now write to inform you that an urgent meeting has been held between the RMT and Rail Gourmet. During these discussions the company tabled an improved offer which meets the approval of your union’s Negotiating Team.

Therefore, the matter has been subject to recent consideration by your union’s Executive Committee who notes the views of your Union Representatives and has taken the decision to suspend the ballot for industrial action and conduct a referendum of all our Rail Gourmet (Eurostar Contract) members with a recommendation to accept the company’s proposals.

You will shortly be receiving a copy of the company’s proposals, together with a voting paper and I urge you to vote YES in the referendum to accept the offer. In the meantime, the strike action due to commence on Thursday 27th August 2015 is suspended and members are instructed to work as normal.

Once again, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your magnificent support and solidarity throughout this dispute. It is thanks to your strength of feeling and determination that has got management to return to negotiations and table an improved offer.
