Dear Colleague
BREAKDOWN IN INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS, CONDUCTORS, NORTH WALES ARRIVA TRAINS WALES - RMT CALLS INDUSTRIAL ACTION SHORT OF STRIKE
Further to my letter dated the 27th October 2014, where I informed you that your union’s Executive Committee had taken the decision to suspend the planned industrial action to allow talks with the company, I can now advise you that some progress has been made but there are still important issues which remain unresolved in this dispute. Further consultations have been held with your Senior Union Representatives at Chester, Holyhead and Llandudno Junction Depots to discuss the unresolved issues and it is the opinion of your Senior Union Representatives that if justice is to be achieved for our dismissed member, Brother William Coulter then additional industrial action is needed.
Your union’s Executive Committee has now had the opportunity to consider the matter and share the views of your Senior Union Representatives. Management’s failure to abide by the agreed procedures and opting to take the hard line approach of dismissal leaves us with no other choice then to take further industrial action. We need to send a clear message to Arriva Trains Wales that the RMT will continue to pursue justice for Brother Coulter until a satisfactory resolution to this dispute can be reached. Therefore, your union’s Executive Committee has taken the decision to call on all our ATW Conductor members located at Holyhead, Chester and Llandudno Junction Depots to take industrial action short of a strike, as listed below:
With effect from 00.01 hours on Wednesday 3rd December 2014 until 23.59 hours on Tuesday 23rd December 2014:
- Not to work any additional Sundays outside the agreed Roster during this period.
- Not work any rest days.
- Not to work any overtime.
Once again, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all our affected members for standing firm against ATW disgraceful decision to dismiss Brother William Coulter under the company’s sickness absence policy. I urge you to continue your magnificent support for your union and solidarity with your colleague in this dispute.
UNITY IS STRENGTH
SUPPORT YOUR UNION – SUPPORT THE ACTION
Best wishes.
