RMT CALLS 48 HOUR STRIKE ACTION

Our Ref: BR2/14/2

15th December 2015

Dear Colleague

BREAKDOWN IN INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS – SERCO CALEDONIAN SLEEPER
RMT CALLS 48 HOUR STRIKE ACTION

Further to my previous correspondence in relation to the above matter and where I informed you of the magnificent results in the ballot for strike action and action short of a strike. First and foremost, I would like to take this opportunity to applaud our SERCO members for your strength of feeling in returning an overwhelming YES vote in the ballot for industrial action.

I can now advise you that your union’s Executive Committee has again had the opportunity to consider this matter and believes that industrial action is necessary to force management back around the negotiating table to address the union’s concerns about the health, safety and welfare of our members. Therefore, your General Grades Committee has taken the decision to call on all our SERCO Caledonian Sleeper members to take the following strike action:

•    Not to book on for any turns of duty that commence between 18.30 hours on Tuesday 22nd December 2015 until 18.29 hours on Thursday 24th December 2015.

Once again, congratulations to our members at SERCO for your show of strength and solidarity in support of these very serious issues.

UNITY IS STRENGTH
SUPPORT YOUR UNION – SUPPORT THE ACTION
Best wishes.

Mick Cash
General Secretary
