Dear Colleague,

Breakdown in Industrial Relations, Train Operators, Piccadilly Line – London Underground

Following yesterday’s strong ballot result in favour of taking strike action and action short of a strike over the issues affecting you and your colleagues on the Piccadilly Line, the National Executive Committee has taken the decision to call on all affected members NOT TO BOOK ON for any shifts that commence between:-

•    21:00 hours on Wednesday 23rd March 2016 and 20:59 hours on Thursday 24th March 2016.
•    12:00 hours on Tuesday 19th April 2016 and 11:59 hours on Wednesday 20th April 2016
•    12:00 hours on Thursday 21st April 2016 and 11:59 hours on Friday 22nd April 2016.

An avoidance of dispute meeting took place with the Company last week but regrettably, management failed to address our main concerns over the abuse of the disciplinary process and the breaches of our agreements. We demanded that the warnings against members over ‘booking on’ be withdrawn immediately but management only suggested that the issue is referred back to Level 1 discussions. We also asked for a weekly line meeting to be chaired by the General Manager to address the industrial relations crisis on the Piccadilly Line but management’s response was to suggest that the existing meeting structures continue, although these are clearly not sufficient.

I urge you all to stand firm together and support the above strike action. Your colleagues in ASLE&F will also be taking part in strike action on the above dates. As always we remain available for further talks to resolve this dispute and we will suggest that these take place under the auspices of the conciliation service ACAS.

Yours sincerely
Mick Cash
General Secretary
