Dear Colleagues,
COO Training Reorganisation
Further to my letter dated 29th September, members will be aware that the failures to agree over the preferencing and selection process for trainer roles would be referred to discussions at ACAS. Your RMT Lead Officer attended ACAS yesterday along with representatives from all areas of training in an effort to negotiate a settlement and resolve the issues around the COO Training Reorganisation.
However, the key issue of the Trainer role being graded SMF0/1 for new recruits to the department instead of the current practice of the role being a Q2 grade is unresolved. Management refused to maintain the status quo and have insisted that new Trainers will not be accommodated under the main agreement. It is a fundamental requirement of RMT that all LUL staff continue to be covered by our main agreement and as such, these proposals are completely unacceptable to this Union.
LUL advised through ACAS that they would now go ahead and intend to impose these new arrangements. Regardless of this we intend to pursue this matter further and I will update you again shortly.
Yours sincerely
Mick Cash
General Secretary
