RMT CALLS FURTHER INDUSTRIAL ACTION

TO ALL NORTHERN CONDUCTOR, STATION AND RETAIL GRADE RMT MEMBERS AT BLACKPOOL NORTH

Our Ref: BR2/4/4

21st September 2015

Dear Colleague

DISMISSAL, CHAD VICKERS, BLACKPOOL NORTH – NORTHERN RAIL

RMT CALLS FURTHER INDUSTRIAL ACTION

First and foremost, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate our members for their steadfast resolve in supporting the reinstatement of Chad Vickers. The strike action taken by our Station, Retail and Conductor grade members on the 12th and 13th September was solidly supported.

However, even in the face of overwhelming opposition Northern Rail has not backed down on their decision to dismiss Brother Vickers. Therefore, your union’s Executive Committee has taken into consideration the views of our Senior Union Representatives and taken the decision to call on all our Northern Rail members located at Blackpool North to take further industrial action as listed below:

  • Not to book on for any overtime from 00.01 hours on Monday 28th September 2015 until 23.59 hours on Friday 2nd October 2015.

  • Working rigidly to the terms of your contract of employment from 00.01 hours on Monday 28th September 2015 until 23.59 hours on Friday 2nd October 2015.

It should be noted that as part of the instruction for inducing members to work rigidly to their contracts of employment Conductors will check the Advantix Machine fully, check the float in front of OTAP clerk in accordance with the instructions in CRI and when finishing their turn of duty they will have all monies checked before leaving the OTAP office again, in accordance with the CRI.

It will also mean Booking Office staff completing all checks including checking cash floats before opening the booking office window(s), in accordance with normal instructions and procedures.

I urge you to stand shoulder to shoulder in solidarity with your sacked colleague and take this industrial action.

SUPPORT CHAD VICKERS - SUPPORT YOUR UNION

Best wishes.

Mick Cash

General Secretary
