RMT Calls Strike Action

Our Ref: BR2/4/1

24th March 2015

Dear Colleague

DISMISSAL, M DOUGHTY, CREW LEADER, EDINBURGH – EAST COAST TRAINS

RMT CALLS STRIKE ACTION

Further to my letter dated the 10th March 2015 where I informed you of the results in the ballot for industrial action and that a meeting will be held with your Senior Union Representatives to discuss the next course of action in this dispute.

I can now advise you that your Senior Union Representatives has indicated that there are numerous reports of how the disciplinary procedure has and continues to be misused by management. Having considered the views of your Senior Union Representatives and in order to achieve justice for our dismissed member, your General Grades Committee feel that industrial action is necessary to force management to see sense and reinstate Brother Doughty.

Therefore, your General Grades Committee has taken the decision to call on all our East Coast On-Board members at Edinburgh Waverley to take the following strike action:

  • Not to book on for any turns of duty that commence between 00.01 hours and 23.59 hours on Friday 3rd April 2015

Once again, congratulations to our members at Edinburgh for your show of strength and solidarity in support of your dismissed colleague, Brother Doughty during this very difficult period.

UNITY IS STRENGTH

SUPPORT YOUR UNION – SUPPORT THE ACTION

Best wishes.

Mick Cash

General Secretary
