! Important Information for Members – Changes made to dates of Industrial Action !

Dear Colleagues,

IMPROVING PAY AND CONDITIONS – CARLISLE CLEANING AND SECURITY (DOCKLANDS LIGHT RAILWAY)

Further to my letter of 21st January I am writing to advise you that the General Grades Committee, following consultation with your representatives and activists has decided to alter the dates that you will be taking industrial action.

The reason the General Grades Committee are doing this is to maximise the effect of the industrial action you are taking.

The following industrial action has been CANCELLED

All Carlisle Cleaning and Security members are instructed not to book on for any shifts that commence between:-

•    12:00 hours on Tuesday 4th February 2014 until 11:59 hours on Thursday 6th February 2014.

This is replaced with:-

All Carlisle Cleaning and Security members are instructed not to book on for any shifts that commence between:-

•    04:30 hours on Wednesday 5th February until 04:29 hours on Friday 7th February 2014.

The other industrial action, as advised to you in my letter of 21st January, remains the same and remains on - for ease of reference this is set out as follows:-

All Carlisle Cleaning and Security members are instructed not to book on for any shifts that commence between:-

•    04:30 hours on Wednesday 29th January 2014 until 04:29 hours on Friday 31st January 2014.

Furthermore all Carlisle Cleaning and Security members are also instructed`

•    Not to work any rest days or overtime from 04:30 hours on Friday 31st January until 04:29 hours on Saturday 1st February 2014.

As you will be aware recent discussions took place with your representatives concerning the implementation of the London Living Wage (LLW) and the company advised your union that there would be no phasing of this increase of the London Living Wage (LLW) in your pay up to September 2013. Additionally your union is disgusted that the company has no intention of paying any pay increase whatsoever to those who currently earn above the LLW level. This will fundamentally undermine the pay differentials between grades.

Carlisle is a massive international company earning millions of pounds in profit each year and to say they cannot afford to give you a pay rise, especially when the cost of living keeps rising, is totally unacceptable and frankly not true. We must show the company that their refusal to make a satisfactory pay offer is unacceptable.

We have informed the company that your union is in dispute and that we remain available for talks to resolve this.  I urge you and your colleagues to stand strong and stand together in order to secure improvements to your pay and conditions.

SUPPORT YOUR UNION
UNITY IS STRENGTH

Yours Sincerely

Bob Crow
General Secretary
