RMT CALLS FURTHER INDUSTRIAL ACTION

Our Ref BR2/0146

1st July 2016

TO ALL SCOTRAIL CONDUCTOR AND CONDUCTOR INSTRUCTOR MEMBERS

Dear Colleague
DOO/DCO ABELLIO SCOTRAIL
RMT CALLS FURTHER INDUSTRIAL ACTION

First and foremost, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate you for the magnificent stand you have taken throughout this dispute. Your show of solidarity and determination in defending the union’s position, the role of the conductor and the safe operation of the railway is none other than outstanding. The strike action you have taken to date has been rock solid and fully supported by the membership.

I can now report that further discussions have been held under the auspices of ACAS and regrettably management has once again failed to share their plans and intentions on DOO, answer the concerns of our members or provide the union with any information that may lead to a settlement to this dispute.

Therefore, the union’s National Executive Committee has taken into consideration the views of your Senior Union Representatives and taken the decision to call further strike action and overtime bans, which is as follows:

Members are instructed not to book on for any turns of duty that commence between:-

•    00.01 hours to 23.59 hours Sunday 3rd July 2016 (as previously advised).
•    00.01 hours Sunday 10th July 2016 and 23.59 hours Monday 11th July 2016.
•    00.01 hours to 23.59 hours Thursday 14th July 2016.
•    00.01 hours Saturday 16th July 2016 to 23.59 hours Sunday 17th July 2016.

Members are also instructed not to work any overtime that commence between:-

•    00.01 hours and 23.59 hours Saturday 2nd July 2016 (as previously advised).
•    00.01 hours on Monday 4th July 2016 and 23.59 hours Saturday 9th July 2016.
•    00.01 hours on Tuesday 12th July 2016 and 23.59 hours Wednesday 13th July 2016.
•    00.01 hours and 23.59 hours Friday 15th July 2016.

Important Note: To comply with legal advice the overtime ban outlined above is suspended for the duration of each strike. However, it will commence again immediately after each strike ends and then continuously from 0001 hours on Monday 18th July 2016 until further notice.

I urge you to continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with your colleagues during the industrial action. Scotrail must be left in no doubt they have to meet our demands to maintain the safety role of the guard and assure us there will be no extension of DOO.

SUPPORT THE ACTION
DEFEND THE ROLE OF THE GUARD

Best wishes

Mick Cash
General Secretary
