NO AGREEMENT REACHED ON LOCAL CONSULTATION ON HSTs, DMUs AND EMUs
Discussions on the memorandum between management & staff on the proposed introduction of HST & DMU Conductor operations were held today.
The meeting started off with Scotrail wishing to discuss the document but your representatives objected and advised management that obviously, especially taking into account the current dispute, that we wanted to discuss the whole package which includes the EMU’s [Hitachi rolling stock].
Management’s response was this was a consultation document and they were unwilling to discuss the issues relating to the EMU’s. They then took the provocative step of stating they would go to the next stage of the consultation process by consulting with local representatives directly in respect of the HST & DMU’s.
I would like to make it clear to our members this union does not deem consultation to have concluded and management do not have an agreement with the RMT to consult at local level over HSTs & DMUs.
Talks have been adjourned.
The proposed consultation document did not include the EMU [Hitachi rolling stock] and only included the HSTs & DMU’s. I would like to reiterate we have made it very clear we want to discuss all the issues and problems together and see no sense in separating EMUs from HSTs & DMUs as all are inextricably linked to each other. We remain available for discussions on all these outstanding issues.
