RMT:
Strike action and overtime bans called!
Our Ref BR2/0146
14th June 2016
TO ALL SCOTRAIL CONDUCTORS AND CONDUCTOR INSTRUCTORS
Dear Colleagues
Strike action and overtime bans called!
DOO/DCO ABELLIO SCOTRAIL
Firstly I want to congratulate you all on the magnificent ballot result that came in last week. Scotrail can be left in no doubt of your strength of feeling and determination to defend the role of the guard. Since the result there have been discussions under the auspices of ACAS. Regrettably management have failed to address any commitment in writing that the new Hitachi trains will be equipped with control panels for the Guard to operate the doors.
As a result of Scotrail’s total failure to meet our demands, and having consulted with your Company Council representatives
Members are instructed not to book on for any turns of duty that commence between: -
• 0001 hours and 2359 hours Tuesday 21st June 2016
• 0001 hours and 2359 hours Thursday 23rd June 2016
• 0001 hours Saturday 25th June 2016 and 2359 hours Sunday 26th June 2016
• 0001 hours to 2359 hours Sunday 3rd July 2016
• 0001 hours to 2359 hours Sunday 10th July 2016
• 0001 hours to 2359 hours Sunday 17th July 2016
The National Executive Committee has also decided that following the above dates strike action will continue every Sunday until further notice at the same times as the above. For legal reasons we will confirm this to yourselves and the company closer to the time.
Members are also instructed not to work any overtime from 0001 hours Wednesday 22nd June 2016 until further notice.
Important Note: To comply with legal advice the overtime ban outlined above is suspended for the duration of each strike. However it will commence again immediately after each strike ends and then continuously from 0001 hours on Monday 18th July 2016 until further notice.
I urge you to continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with your colleagues during this industrial action. Scotrail must be left in no doubt they have to meet our demands to maintain the safety role of the guard and assure us there will be no extension of DOO.
SUPPORT THE ACTION
DEFEND THE ROLE OF THE GUARD!
Yours sincerely
Mick Cash
General Secretary
