RMT pays tribute to heroic transport workers battling to keep Britain moving in atrocious conditions
General Secretary Mick Cash said;
"We have seen and heard a lot from senior managers of Britain's private train companies over the past week as the bad weather has gripped the UK and it's about time the voices of those at the sharp end, battling in atrocious conditions to keep services moving, were heard.
"RMT members have been working round the clock in every facet of the transport sector, from trains to tube to ferries to buses, to keep the country moving. It's about time they were given the recognition they richly deserve.
"The employers would also do well to recognise and remember the heroic efforts of the workforce who are the lifeblood of the transport industry next time they are looking at hacking back on jobs, safety and working conditions."
