IMPOSITION OF ROSTERS – CATERING GRADES – GWR

Our Ref: HC/8/2

Dear colleague

IMPOSITION OF ROSTERS – CATERING GRADES – GWR

It was brought to my attention yesterday that management at Paddington are intending to impose a roster from next Monday 13th February, which is wholly unacceptable to you and your colleagues and unacceptable to your union in general.

Your representatives have made great efforts to prepare acceptable links since the emergency rosters were put in place from the December 2016 timetable changes. Unfortunately, despite these efforts, they have been continuously frustrated by management, who have altered the proposed links without the knowledge of the reps.

The matter has been considered by your National Executive Committee, which instructed me to write to the company demanding that no imposition of the rosters takes place and that an urgent meeting should be held between this union and the company to resolve this matter.

I have therefore written to the company along these lines and informing management that failure to respond will lead to a formal dispute situation existing between RMT and GWR and that I’ll be making arrangements for a ballot of you and your colleagues.

No response has yet been received from management so further efforts will be made to highlight to the company that you and your colleagues are not prepared to have their reps’ efforts side lined or have our members’ needs for a decent roster ignored.

Your NEC will consider this matter again early next week and I will write to you again with updates in due course.

Finally, I can reiterate that your union is doing everything possible in fighting for the rights of our members and your representatives in this matter.

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash
General Secretary
