IMPOSITION OF ROSTERS, STATION STAFF – MERSEYRAIL
I am disappointed to be receiving concerning reports from my representatives that the company have ignored the democratic wishes of you and your colleagues and failed to address the matters at the heart of the issue. The company’s current plan to impose a new roster on you and your colleagues for the upcoming Liverpool Rock marathon on Sunday 29th May is once again a clear and blatant attack on you and your hard working colleagues who have already expressed disdain at the proposals locally. Furthermore, following an avoidance of dispute meeting between our representatives and Merseyrail held on Friday 13th May, I am appalled that the company still refuses to stop the imposition of rosters on the 29th May.
Additionally I am concerned at the company’s total failure and continued refusal to reopen negotiations on any improvements from the deal rejected overwhelmingly by you and your colleagues in a referendum. This is a clearly not the correct or appropriate way to treat loyal staff. We must send the company a clear message that we will not be forced into accepting unfavourable conditions and that the company will be met with a strong and united workforce against any imposition of rosters.
Therefore, in-light of the above and the company’s failure to address our concerns at the avoidance of dispute meeting, station staff members at Merseyrail will be balloted for strike action and industrial action short of strike.
It is vital that we show a strong sense of unity against the company. Together we can take the necessary actions and force the company into reopening negotiations on better conditions for working special events.
I will, of course, keep you fully advised on any further developments.
