7 October 2014
On October 18th the TUC has arranged a mass demonstration in London and the STUC is organising one in Glasgow . RMT will be participating fully in both these event’s, as part of our wider strategy of opposing austerity, poverty pay and the cuts.
Following a decision of the General Grades committee we will also be using both these opportunities to publicise our campaign ‘To Keep the Guard on the Train, Keep the Train Safe’. It is an ideal opportunity to demonstrate the vital importance of your role and hand out information to members of the public. To ensure that the RMT contingent is as large as possible on the day I am writing to urge you, and your fellow workers to join us.
Please claim this date in your diary, and urge your fellow trade unionists, trades councils, family and friends to mobilise for the event if they can. Bring Branch banners, flags and whistles. Wear your t-shirts with pride.
Meet on the Embankment, near Blackfriars, in London from 11.00 am onwards, ready to march to Hyde Park.
Muster in Glasgow at Glasgow Green from 10am onwards before marching to George Square.
For more information on the arrangements for the RMT contingent on the day visit the RMT website or contact Bob Oram on firstname.lastname@example.org.
