London cable car workers to take strike action

27 September 2024

RMT Press Office:

Maintenance and operations workers at London Cable car will take strike action on Saturday 28th September.

The popular form of transport is run by Doppelmayr Cable Car (DCC) who have refused to make a decent pay offer to RMT members.

Worse still, they have inflamed the situation by cancelling annual leave and withdrawing taxis after workers have finished late shifts.

If there is not a resolution found, cable car workers are scheduled to take strike action every Saturday up until February next year.

RMT general secretary Mick Lynch said: "The behaviour from Doppelmayr management has been appalling. Instead of trying to work with the union to find a resolution, they have sought to ratchet up this dispute believing they can punish RMT members without the union responding.

"Our members work long hours to maintain this unique form of transport in London and yet are being treated with distain and zero respect.

"That cannot continue which is why they will take strike action every Saturday for 6 months, unless a negotiated settlement can be found."
