Dear Colleague,

M Door Alarm Procedures, Jubilee Line – London Underground
You and your colleagues on the Jubilee Line recently returned a massive vote in favour of taking industrial action over changes to the ‘M’ door alarm activation procedure, which were imposed by LUL to decrease safety checks in order to avoid disruption to the service. This new procedure was quite rightly rejected by members and the Union has now informed LUL of the following:-

•    With effect from 21:30 hours on Thursday 9th July 2015, until further notice, all members will be instructed to carry out the arrangements whereby should the M Door Alarm be activated, then the operator is to retain the safe control of the train and investigate the M Door Alarm after carrying out all safety rules.

Our concerns and opposition over the changes made are due to serious safety implications and this action ensures that all Jubilee Line Train Operators and Instructor Operators can continue their safety critical duties and check an ‘M’ Door Alarm before proceeding.

As always, we remain available for talks with LUL aimed at resolving this dispute. I urge you all to take part in the above industrial action, which will remain in place until this matter is resolved to members’ satisfaction.

I will keep you advised of all further developments.

Yours sincerely
Mick Cash
General Secretary
