24 HOUR STRIKE CALLED AT VINCI
RATES OF PAY AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE 2018 – VINCI (ARRIVA RAIL LONDON CONTRACT)
Firstly, I would like to congratulate you and your colleagues for returning a phenomenal result in the ballot for industrial action. This result provides the union with a clear mandate to fight against below inflation pay offers.
Your union’s National Executive Committee has now had the opportunity to consider this fantastic result that you and your colleagues returned in favour of taking strike action and action short of a strike and has taken the decision to call on all Vinci Cleaner members on the ARL contract to take industrial action by not booking on for any shifts that commence between:-
- 00:01 hours and 23:59 hours on Monday 18th February 2019
Additionally, on Monday 18th February 2019 the RMT will be organising visible picket lines from 06:00 hours to 08:00 hours at the following stations Willesden Junction, Gospel Oak, Hoxton, New Cross Gate and Hackney Downs. At 08:00 hours everyone should then make their way to Arriva Rail London’s Head Office in Swiss Cottage where a mass demonstration will be organised. I urge you all to join a picket line and/or the demonstration at Swiss Cottage if you can.
You and your colleagues have already demonstrated a clear sense of solidarity and unity. Now is the time to back this result up with a solid display of industrial action. I urge all members to stand firm together and support this action. Your union believes that you should be adequately rewarded for all your hard work. The company believes that they can pay their workers a pittance and get away with it. It is time to prove them wrong.
The company are aware that as always, RMT remains available for talks and is ready to enter into negotiations in order resolve the current dispute.
STAND FIRM TOGETHER – SUPPORT THE STRIKE
UNITY IS STRENGTH
