To All Abellio Scotrail Conductor RMT Members located at Glasgow Central

Dear Colleague

ABUSE OF DISCIPLINARY PROCEDURES, CONDUCTORS, GLASGOW CENTRAL – ABELLIO SCOTRAIL

Further to my letter dated the 10th November 2020 with regards to the above dispute and where I informed you of the result in the ballot for industrial action of all our Scotrail Conductor members located at Glasgow Central.

As you are aware, Scotrail has continued to attack the Conductor grade with punitive disciplinary measures against you and your colleagues when mistakes occur at work. The company’s first steps should be corrective and supportive under the competence development programme. These corrective action plans are there to support staff and ensure mistakes are rectified. Despite this management at Glasgow Central refuse to consider this course of action and instead go straight to disciplinary action. The disciplinary/demotion of Brother John Gray further highlights the company’s disregard to follow the agreed procedures.

I can now advise you that the matter has been considered by the union’s National Executive Committee who are pleased that the thresholds needed have been met. Therefore, the Executive Committee has instructed the Lead Officer to meet with our Reps to arrange the appropriate action and place a report back before the Executive Committee for further consideration.

I trust this keeps you fully advised on the matter and I will, of course, update you on any further developments.

Best wishes

Mick Cash
General Secretary
