ABUSE OF DISCIPLINARY PROCEDURES, CONDUCTORS, GLASGOW CENTRAL – ABELLIO SCOTRAIL

Further to my previous letter and where I advised you of the industrial action called by the NEC in defence of our unfairly treated colleague and against the serious company failures in relation to disciplinary procedures.

I am pleased to announce that after representation from your union our colleague has been fully reinstated to his substantive role. The company has also put in place a competence development plan (CDP) for conductors to ensure issues such as this do not happen again. Whilst the CDP still needs to be fully negotiated with the union it is a positive step in the right direction.

The National Executive Committee has considered this matter and has acknowledged the positive outcome. The NEC and I would like to thank you and your colleagues for your strong resolve and determination during this dispute. There is no doubt that the unified voices delivered from our industrial ballot sent the company a clear message. The support you have shown your union, your lead officer and most importantly your fellow colleague is truly commendable.

With the positive progress made the NEC has decided to call off all the action called and members should work all of their shifts as normal.

The union will continue to ensure the company does not renege on their commitments and will make sure the company implement appropriate changes. We will continue to monitor this situation and I will write to you again should any developments occur.

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash
