Dear Colleague

BOOKING OFFICE OPENING HOURS, BREACH OF SCHEDULE 17, LOUGHBOROUGH – EAST MIDLANDS RAILWAY

I write with regards to the above matter and to inform you that I have received concerning reports from your Union Representatives indicating that East Midlands Railways are utilising multi skilled personal regraded Band A station grades to run Loughborough Station short, potentially in breach of Schedule 17.

Your Representatives have advised that there are two rosters for station grades at Loughborough, one for booking office and one for platforms. However, when the static booking office grade is on annual leave, rather than cover the roster link with rest day working, EMR has made arrangements for the static booking office clerk to work the platforms roster. This person is then tasked with booking onto the STAR ticketing system in the booking office to comply with Schedule 17 and then proceed to undertake platform duties for the turn.

The union’s National Executive Committee has recently considered the matter and finds the actions of the company wholly unacceptable. Therefore, I have been instructed to arrange an urgent meeting with East Midlands Railways in the hope of resolving this issue. In the meantime, I have written to the company advising that if we are unable to reach a satisfactory resolution, then a dispute situation will exist between our two organisations.

I trust this keeps you fully advised on the matter and I will, of course, update you on any further developments.

Best wishes.
