Our Ref: BR2/20/2
24th April 2024
Dear Colleague
BREACH OF COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT - EUROSTAR
I have received the following resolution from our Euro Passenger Services Branch with regards to the above matter:
“This branch notes:
- That Eurostar has implemented a ‘bonus scheme’ for the Olympic and Paralympic period without consulting our company council reps.
- That this is the second time the company has failed to discuss a matter related to pay.
- That the company’s position remained unchanged at the ad hoc meeting that took place with our union on 22nd April 2024.
- That senior management has no desire to understand the concept of industrial relations in the UK and is more concerned with appeasing other parts of the merged business.
- That the new management believes it can override existing practices and agreements with its poor practices used elsewhere in the merged business.
This branch will not tolerate this or any further disregard of collective bargaining. Any attempts to water down collective agreements will be met with the strongest industrial response.
The branch calls on the General Secretary via the NEC to write to the Eurostar CEO, outlining our position on this matter.”
The matter has been subject to recent consideration by the union’s National Executive Committee and I have been instructed to take up this matter in line with the resolution immediately.
I trust this keeps you fully advised on the matter and I will, of course, update you on any further developments.
Yours sincerely
Michael Lynch
General Secretary
