Dear Colleague

BREACH OF DIGNITY & RESPECT POLICY, FLEET MAINTENANCE STAFF, PERTH DEPOT – ABELLIO SCOTRAIL

I write with regards to the above matter and to inform you that Abellio Scotrail has refused to hold further discussions with your Union Representatives following conclusion of a recent investigation where it was found that one of Scotrail managers had breached the company’s Dignity & Respect policy.

The RMT finds it totally unacceptable that the manager in question has allegedly been promoted to a higher managerial position and believes this makes a complete mockery of the Dignity & Respect policy.

As a result of the above, I have informed the company that a dispute situation now exists between our two organisations and I will be balloting our members for industrial action. The ballot for industrial action will be for strike action and for action short of a strike in which members will be instructed not to work any rest days or undertake higher grade duties.

The ballot of our Scotrail A1.3, A3.3, B2.2 grade members opens on Thursday 1st April 2021 and will close on Thursday 22nd April 2021. If you have not received a ballot paper by Wednesday 7th April 2021 then please contact the RMT Freephone Helpline urgently on 0800 376 3706 or the RMT Switch board on 020 7387 4771 and ask for the industrial relations department, where a replacement ballot paper will be sent to your home address by first class post. Additionally, if you are aware of a colleague who has not received their ballot paper, ask them to call one of the above numbers to update their details and to receive a replacement ballot paper.

I trust this keeps you fully advised on the matter and I will, of course, update you on any further developments.

Best wishes.

Mick Cash
General Secretary
