BREACH OF NATIONAL AND AREA AGREEMENTS – SCOTLAND – NETWORK RAIL OPERATIONS

Our Ref BR5/14/2

7th February 2020

TO ALL SIGNALLING GRADES, SIGNALLING SHIFT MANAGERS AND MOBILE OPERATIONS MANAGERS

Dear Colleagues

BREACH OF NATIONAL AND AREA AGREEMENTS – SCOTLAND – NETWORK RAIL OPERATIONS

Concerns have been raised by your Representatives that Network Rail have been in breach of National and Area Agreements, including failing to adhere to the National Rostering Principle. A number of grievances raised by your colleagues have not been dealt with and members have not received leave cards for the year.

Despite the efforts of your Area Council Representatives to discuss their concerns and seek a resolution to the issues that have arisen the company have been uncooperative. The Head of Operations for the Scotland Route has even failed to convene a meeting of the Area Council despite your union’s request.

Accordingly, the National Executive Committee have instructed me to inform the company that a dispute now exists between our organisations and to prepare a ballot of your grades. As ever, this union remains open to constructive dialogue to resolve the issues but this requires the company to engage with your elected Representatives.

I trust this keeps you fully advised and I will inform you of any further developments on this issue when they arise.

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash
General Secretary
