BREACH OF POLICIES AND PROCEDURES - NEXUS (TYNE AND WEAR METRO)

Our Ref: BR2/4/4

9th April 2025

Dear RMT Member,

BREACH OF POLICIES AND PROCEDURES - NEXUS (TYNE AND WEAR METRO)

I have received a report from your Lead Officer, along with correspondence from Nexus, outlining a range of commitments aimed at resolving the ongoing dispute regarding breaches of policies and procedures, including concerns around redeployment, recruitment, and management standards.

The Union’s National Executive Committee (NEC) has reviewed the matter. In light of the planned meeting of the Policy Review Group on 16th April 2025, the NEC has instructed me to suspend the current ballot for industrial action. However, the RMT remains in dispute with Nexus until formal assurances are received that all outstanding issues, particularly those involving systemic policy misapplications and specific concerns, are resolved to the satisfaction of our representatives.

I have also asked the Lead Officer to provide a report following the initial meeting of the Policy Review Group on 16thApril 2025, including an assessment of progress made and recommendations for next steps.

I will update you and your colleagues further following that meeting and the NEC’s subsequent decision.

Yours sincerely

Eddie Dempsey

General Secretary
