BREACH OF RECOGNITION AGREEMENT - P&O FERRIES
Further to my previous letter on the above matter dated 14th April 2021, you will be aware that the RMT had entered in to dispute with P&O Ferries over their refusal to allow the Secretary of our Dover Shipping Branch into JCC meetings. I can now report that following discussions between the National Secretary and the company, an invitation has been extended to our Dover Shipping Branch Secretary to attend JCC meetings. Should the Branch Secretary be elected by the crew to represent RMT at JCC meetings then this invitation will be withdrawn.
Finally, P&O Ferries and the RMT has agreed to jointly draft and promote a ‘meetings behaviour protocol’ that will ensure that courteous conduct prevails across all meetings between our organisations and that sensitive matters and areas of conflict are dealt with in a professional manner. Having considered this matter, the union’s National Executive Committee welcomes the commitment from P&O Ferries that they are abiding by the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Accordingly, the National Executive Committee has instructed me to write to the company to advise them that our two organisations are no longer in dispute in respect of the above matter. This instruction has now been carried out.
