Dear Colleague,


I have received very concerning reports from our representatives and from you and your colleagues that there has now been a complete breakdown in industrial relations with Avanti West Coast.

Understandably, many members are distraught at the current situation and have expressed some serious concerns, these are, but not limited to:

• Breach of collective agreements and the imposition of First Group Policies.
• Introduction of Mobile Device’s and 46 Software applications.
• Imposition of rosters.
• Lack of consultation on rosters.
• Inequality of Jobs Shared out between flexi and non flexi staff.
• Disregard for work life balance and the breaking of long-standing working practices at Manchester depot.
• No consideration for staff welfare, especially when staff are rostered for 7 consecutive days.
• Lack of formal response to the union’s pay and benefits review claim.

The National Executive Committee has considered this matter and has acknowledged that there are several issues within each grade. Therefore, I have been instructed to inform the company that we are now in dispute with them over the above issues. I will also be arranging an urgent meeting with the Lead Officer, Company Council representatives and the National Executive Committee to discuss the important issues that are affecting you and your colleagues.

In order to ensure a swift ballot - should the need for one arise - I urge you to update your membership details, especially if you have moved house, grade or depot.
