Dear Colleague
BREAKDOWN IN INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS, CLEANERS – CARLISLE SUPPORT SERVICES (ARL CONTRACT)
I write with regards to the above matter and to inform you that the RMT has gone into dispute with Carlisle Support Services, over the company’s failure to uphold their commitments to improve our CSS members (on the ARL contract) terms and conditions and reneging on agreements for new entrants, resulting in a breakdown in industrial relations.
In addition to the above, I have received a report from the Lead Officer advising that despite discussions between CSS management and your Union Representatives, Carlisle Support Services has failed to provide a written summary of the proposed changes to cleaning services on London Overground and has implemented alterations to the contract without agreement with the RMT. The Lead Officer also reports that arrangements are being made to hold a mass members online meeting next week to discuss these issues further and that every effort will be made to complete the ballot matrix checks by then.
The matter has been considered by the union’s National Executive Committee who notes the company’s continued disregard for the collective bargaining agreement and I have been instructed to seek a further report from the Lead Officer, following conclusion of the members online meeting. The Executive Committee has also instructed me to seek a legal opinion on the viability of a claim, in respect of the unilateral changes made by the company.
I trust this keeps you fully advised on the matter and I will, of course, update you on any further developments, as and when they arise.
Yours sincerely
Michael Lynch
General Secretary
