BREAKDOWN IN INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS, DRIVERS, HAMMERSMITH & CITY LINE – LONDON UNDERGROUND

Our Ref: LUL/14/2

23rd May 2018

Dear Colleagues,

BREAKDOWN IN INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS, DRIVERS, HAMMERSMITH & CITY LINE – LONDON UNDERGROUND

As you may recall, in December 2016 the Union suspended strike action in a previous dispute affecting Hammersmith & City Line Drivers due to progress made in discussions at ACAS including with regards to PnR’s (Personal Needs Relief) discussions at Trains Functional Council. However, your Trains Functional Council and Hammersmith & City Branch recently advised that despite these discussions, management plan to push ahead with disciplining members who they deem to be taking excessive PnR’s.

This matter has been considered by the National Executive Committee, which has noted the correspondence on file and that this heavy-handed approach is an attack your dignity and human rights and will not be tolerated by this Union. In line with the NEC decision, the Company has been advised that a dispute situation now exists between us over this issue and I am making preparations to conduct a ballot of all Train Operator and Instructor Operator members at Hammersmith Depot and Edgware Road Depot over this issue.

Therefore, I urge you all to ensure your membership details are correct in preparation of the ballot for industrial action. If your job title, workplace or postal address has recently changed please contact the RMT Helpline number on 0800 376 3706, the RMT switchboard on 0207 387 4771 to ask for the Industrial Relations Department or e-mail info@rmt.org.uk.

Additionally, if you know of a colleague who has moved or changed jobs please ask them to contact one of the above numbers where we will be able to amend their membership details and ensure a successful ballot.

I will of course keep you advised of all further developments.

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash
General Secretary
