BREAKDOWN IN INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS, EDINBURGH WAVERLEY – GATE GOURMET

To All Gate Gourmet RMT Members located at Edinburgh Waverley

Our Ref: HC/14/2

20th October 2021

Dear Colleague

BREAKDOWN IN INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS, EDINBURGH WAVERLEY – GATE GOURMET

Further to my letter dated the 13th October 2021 with regards to the above dispute and where I informed you that the RMT was carrying out the necessary ballot matrix checks in order to progress with the ballot for Strike Action and Action Short of a Strike for all our Gate Gourmet members located at Edinburgh Waverley.

I can now advise you that the ballot matrix checks are complete and the ballot for industrial action will open on Tuesday 26th October 2021 and will close on Tuesday 9th November 2021. If you have not received your ballot paper by Tuesday 2nd November 2021 then please contact the RMT Freephone Helpline urgently on 0800 376 3706 or the RMT Switch board on 0207 387 4771 and ask for the industrial relations department, where a replacement ballot paper will be sent out to you by first class post.

Your union’s National Executive Committee notes that industrial relations have not improved since Gate Gourmet took over from Rail Gourmet and has taken the decision to ballot all our Gate Gourmet members located at Edinburgh Waverley for industrial action. This dispute is about the bullying and harassment of our members by the local manager and the company’s failure to address the culture of bullying and harassment within the workplace.

Please ensure you return your ballot paper when you receive it by no later than Tuesday 9th November 2021.

I trust this keeps you fully advised on the matter and I will, of course, update you on any further developments.

Yours sincerely

Michael Lynch
General Secretary
