BREAKDOWN IN INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS, SELHURST DEPOT – SOUTHERN (GTR)
I write with regards to the above matter and to inform you that I have received a report from the Lead Officer raising concerns from our members at Selhurst Depot of alleged preferential treatment, lack of progression, discriminatory practices and a bullying workplace environment.
The Lead Officer reports that a meeting has been held with the company where it was agreed that a covenant style document will be prepared at our request, for agreement at Engineering Functional Council level of our bargaining machinery, which will set out in clear terms:
Transparency and procedural arrangements for application and selection to promotional, progression and training opportunities.
Time with manager arrangements to discuss the above for individual staff.
Progression Programme and Development Hub.
Respect and Dignity awareness including obligations and responsibility for all.
Encourage by welcoming applications for promotional progression and training opportunities from under-represented groups.
A process to allow voice and resolution to those who have complaints but have not felt confident in using formal procedures.
Advice on formal procedures for resolving workplace conflicts.
Review of local promotional, progression and training fulfilment as standing agenda item at local level, at reasonable periods. Quarterly or half yearly.
The matter has been subject to recent consideration by the union’s National Executive Committee and I have been instructed to inform you of the above and to expect an invitation from your Branch to discuss the issues in due course.
