BREAKDOWN IN INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS, TICKET EXAMINERS – ABELLIO SCOTRAIL
I am writing in relation to the above matter. I am most concerned that there is confusion, by Scotrail, on the interpretation of the ticket examiners restructuring agreement dated July 1999. The use of mobile phones for IT purposes and checking smart cards was never agreed and members are now being disciplined for abiding by the agreed procedures and not using mobile phones. Furthermore, it has come to my attention that Scotrail are refusing to meet to resolve this dispute due to unresolved issues with the North Clyde LLC, over separate issues. I have reminded the company that it is the Company Council and not the LLC who are the custodians of the restructuring agreement. Therefore, there is no excuse for the company’s refusal to meet to resolve this issue. I have now informed the company that we are in dispute over these issues.
The National Executive Committee has considered this matter and has instructed me to now ballot all of our Scotrail Ticket Examiner members for Industrial Action. Therefore, to ensure a swift ballot, membership checks are currently underway. I urge you all to ensure your membership details are correct in preparation for any ballot.
