BREAKDOWN IN INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS, TRAIN MANAGERS (TICKET SCANNING) - AVANTI WEST COAST

 

The dispute situation between the RMT and AWC over the company’s continued use of ticket scanners without agreement with the Union remains unresolved. The ballot mandate expires in June and therefore, it has become necessary to ballot our AWC Train Manager grade members again for industrial action. 

 

Your union’s National Executive Committee has recently considered the matter and has taken the decision to ballot all our AWC Train Manager grade members for Industrial Action Short of a Strike, which will be in the form of non-use of ticket scanners. 

 

The Independent Scrutineer Civica will send a voting paper to your home address on Wednesday 29^th May 2024 and the ballot will close on Tuesday 18^th June 2024. If you have not received your ballot paper by Wednesday 5^thJune 2024 please email us at info@rmt.org.uk or contact the RMT Helpline on 0800 376 3706 and a replacement voting paper will be sent out to your home address by first class post.

 

It is imperative that we get a massive return in the ballot for industrial action, so we are not prevented from acting on members' wishes by the anti-trade union ballot thresholds. Failure to meet these thresholds means industrial action cannot happen, so a high turnout is crucial.

 

Your strength, unity and determination has been incredible throughout this dispute and I urge you to keep up the magnificent support for your Union by voting ‘YES’ for Industrial Action Short of a Strike in the forthcoming ballot.
