CHRISTMAS & NEW YEAR LEAVE & PAYMENTS ARRANGEMENTS 2016/17 – CROSS COUNTRY

I have received reports from our Company Council representatives that Cross Country is unwilling and totally refusing to make any offer in relation to working on Sunday 1st January 2017. I am deeply disappointed to hear that the company are blatantly rejecting reasonable requests from this union and have stated that as Sunday remains outside of the working week, there is no requirement for you and your colleagues to work that day. Therefore, the company have stated that due to this reason they are not prepared to offer any enhancements for working on Sunday 1st January 2017.

The National Executive Committee has recently considered this matter and having taken note of the views of your representatives and Lead Officer has decided to ballot you and your colleagues for strike action and action short of strike. I have informed the company that we are now in dispute over this issue and that as always the union remains available for meaningful negotiations to try and resolve this dispute.

Ballot papers are being prepared and will be sent to your home address on Tuesday 6th December 2016. I urge you all to make sure you use your vote and vote ‘YES’ for both strike action and action short of strike. All papers will need to be returned in the freepost envelope provided by no later than First post, on Tuesday 20th December 2016.

Make sure you get your vote by ensuring your address is up-to-date. Any updates can be done by accessing your records on the RMT website, navigating to the member area and amending your details accordingly. Alternatively, you can contact our Membership Department directly by email at rmtmail@rmt.org.uk or you can call the RMT Freephone Helpline on 0800 376 3706, where someone will be able to amend your details over the phone.
