CLOSURE OF KINGS LYNN DEPOT, NORFOLK – STAGECOACH

Our Ref: B/15/1

18th April 2018

Dear Colleague,

CLOSURE OF KINGS LYNN DEPOT, NORFOLK – STAGECOACH

The decision by Stagecoach to close its Kings Lynn Depot putting 122 jobs at risk of redundancy was obviously one that has caused a huge amount of anxiety and stress for effected members. The company stated that the closure was necessary as it had withdrawn a large number of services in its Norfolk operation and had decided to operate some of the bus routes from outstations controlled by Peterborough depot.  The company indicated that the depot would close on 29th April 2018 and commenced a three month consultation period.

Your reps have ensured that they have been involved at every step with a view to ensuring the best possible outcome for members during such a difficult time. Numerous meetings have been held with the company to discuss issues including the movement and redeployment of staff, the filling of vacancies, relocation payments and voluntary redundancy schemes. The final consultation meeting was held on 4th April 2018 and there remained a few outstanding issues that your reps had raised with the company. Assurances were given that answers would be communicated as soon as they became available. Obviously your union will continue to ensure that your legal rights are properly protected.

Your National Executive Committee would like to take this opportunity to commend the excellent work done by your reps during this process and wish to congratulate them on their steadfastness.

Yours sincerely   Mick Cash General Secretary
