Dear RMT Member

DE-RECOGNITION – SUPERVISORY AND CLERICAL GRADES – CROSS COUNTRY

Further discussions have been held with Cross Country senior management over the last week, which has resulted in a set of proposals being tabled by the company aimed at forming the basis for a resolution to the current dispute.

The proposals include an offer for both parties to enter into an arbitration process involving an external legal professional to examine both side’s view on the merits of our respective arguments regarding recognition rights for Supervisory and Clerical Grades. The company propose that this arbitration would be binding on both parties.

The company also stated a desire to enter into discussions to restore trust and improve relationships between our organisations going forward.

It was the view of your Company Council Representatives that we should agree to enter discussions on the company’s proposals for arbitration and any other suitable form of arbitration we may propose.

Therefore it was recommended to your union’s National Executive Committee (NEC) that the strike action scheduled to take place on Saturday 13th April 2024 be suspended to allow these talks to take place. This recommendation was endorsed by your NEC and I therefore instruct you to work normally on Saturday.

Your NEC has also instructed me to advise the company that the discussions on the process of finding a resolution to this dispute should conclude by 18th April 2024, again as recommended by your Company Council Representatives.

Additionally, I am instructed to advise the company that your union does not consider a meeting which is taking place tomorrow without the involvement of RMT as a bona fide meeting under the Collective Bargaining Arrangements and that nothing should proceed or be implemented as a result of that meeting without the company first having formal discussions with your union.

Finally, I have stated to Cross Country that RMT welcomes dialogue with the company on the basis of restoring faith and confidence between our organisations.

I will of course keep you fully advised of all further developments in this matter.

Yours sincerely

Michael Lynch
