Dear RMT member,

De-Recognition – Supervisory & Clerical Grades – Cross Country

Further to previous communications, ongoing discussions have taken place involving the Assistant General Secretary, Lead Officer, Senior Company Council, alongside meetings with an independent mediator and the company.

Following recent developments, a report was received from the Lead Officer (Relief Regional Organiser (North) Stan Herschel) which was considered by the National Executive Committee (NEC) on 12th September and included the independent mediator’s recommendations and Cross Country’s response.

I am pleased to advise that, following representations made by your Union through an independent mediator, Cross Country have accepted the recommendations to resolve the dispute through the establishment of a Company Council for Supervisory & Clerical Grades.

Additionally, as the recognised Trade Unions, RMT and the TSSA will meet with Cross Country to determine which grades would be within scope of the council and the number of union representatives each union would have within the constituency.

At yesterday’s meeting, the NEC welcomed the decision and the company have now been informed that we are no longer in dispute over this matter.

The NEC also acknowledged the stunning solidarity shown by all of our Cross Country members from all grades in defence of our supervisory and clerical grades, indicating you are a credit to our union and a testament to the power of an all-grades industrial trade union.

Furthermore, the Lead Officer has placed on record his thanks to you, your RMT colleagues, and all the representatives who came together to achieve this success.

Yours sincerely,

Michael Lynch

General Secretary
