DE-RECOGNITION – UNIPART RAIL (CREWE)

Our Ref: ORG/REC/UNIPART

22nd August 2024

Dear Colleague,

DE-RECOGNITION – UNIPART RAIL (CREWE)

I am writing to advise you that, since Unipart Rail has notified your union of the company’s intention to terminate our recognition agreement at the Crewe Service Centre site, I have written to the company to advise them that a dispute now exists between this Union and your employer.

Both RMT and Unite have recognition at this site, and the company have advised that their existing recognition agreement with Unite will continue unaffected. The company have failed to respond to our request for a meeting, and their intransigence in refusing to meet with your union to discuss this matter is unacceptable.  The removal of recognition with the RMT would allow the company to undermine your hard-won terms and conditions.

Your National Executive Committee has considered the matter and it has concluded that Unipart Rail’s treatment of you and your colleagues is intolerable, therefore it has taken the decision to ballot all members at Crewe Service Centre for strike action and action short of a strike, so that you can stand up for your right to be represented by the trade union of your choice.

Ballot papers will be despatched by the independent scrutineer next Thursday 29th August 2024 and will arrive at your home address after this date.

I urge you not to waste your vote and to vote 'YES' for strike action and 'YES' for industrial action short of a strike, when your ballot arrives, and to return it as quickly as possible.

I will keep members advised of all further developments.

Yours sincerely

Michael Lynch

General Secretary
