Dear RMT Member
DE-RECOGNITION – UNIPART RAIL (CREWE)
I have received correspondence from Unipart Crewe General Manager Scott Henderson mistakenly asserting that the strike action scheduled to take place on Thursday 31st October 2024 is unlawful and therefore anyone taking part in what he describes as “unofficial action” may face disciplinary action and even termination of their employment.
I understand that RMT members at Unipart Rail Crewe are aware of these vile threats and I am not surprised that several of you have felt intimidated by this.
I would like to assure you and your colleagues that the action being called is lawful and you are fully entitled to take part.
I have written to the company – see copy here - to protest at their bullying and intimidating tactics and threats and informed them that RMT members are protected from dismissal, disciplinary action and victimisation by the lawful ballot and mandate they have achieved.
The action planned is sanctioned by the RMT Union and we will protect our members in law and publicise your case by all means available to expose the company’s harassment and threats. Furthermore, official and lawful pickets will be held at the Crewe site to offer strikers support on the day.
Do not let management intimidate or bully you over taking part in this industrial action when instead the company should be focusing its attention on resolving this dispute.
UNITY IS STRENGTH – SUPPORT THE ACTION!
Yours sincerely
Michael Lynch
General Secretary
