Dear RMT Member
DE-RECOGNTION – UNIPART RAIL (CREWE)
Unipart Rail management continue their intransigent stance in their attempts to strip your union of recognition at the Crewe depot. The company’s position deprives you and your RMT colleagues of the chance to have your union providing effective representation in the workplace. It also flies in the face of the recent positive announcements by the new Labour government on trade union recognition and workplace rights.
With this intransigence continuing, a meeting of RMT members took place last week to discuss the matter, following which your Regional Organiser reported that those in attendance had requested that your union’s National Executive Committee (NEC) should sanction industrial action.
Your NEC has endorsed that call and you are therefore instructed to take strike action by not booking on for any duties which commence between the following times:
- 00:01 hours and 23:59 hours on Thursday 31st October 2024
I am sure that all RMT members at Crewe will demonstrate their determination to defend their union’s recognition at the depot and show management that your union rights will not be given away lightly.
I can advise you that your NEC has authorised branches and regional council to use their funds to support our members during this dispute.
I will also be calling on other trade unions and labour movement activists to support a protest at the Crewe facility on the day of the industrial action.
SUPPORT UNION RIGHTS!
SUPPORT THE STRIKE ACTION!
Yours sincerely
Michael Lynch
General Secretary
