Deep Sea Membership Engagement

Dear Colleague,

Following the latest meeting of our Deep Sea Organising Forum, which brings together elected representatives of the various deep‑sea companies where the RMT has recognition, it was agreed that, as a union, we should make use of advances in technology and hold a collective virtual meeting of all deep sea members. This will enable us to provide an update on core issues across the sector, offer an analysis of terms and conditions, and encourage greater engagement from members employed within this sector on the wider issues affecting you and your colleagues.

While meetings have previously been held with members employed by individual companies, this meeting will bring all companies together and provide a national overview for rank‑and‑file members across the sector.

Before this meeting takes place, we will be conducting a survey of all deep‑sea members. This will allow every member to contribute their views on key issues, identify areas where the union can improve, and help shape our strategic campaigning priorities going forward. This cannot be achieved without your feedback.

I encourage all members to ensure that your contact details are up to date so we can communicate with you effectively and ensure you receive all relevant information.

Lastly, I ask that you continue to support the growth of our membership by encouraging any colleagues who are not yet members of the RMT to join, helping to strengthen our collective voice on your respective vessel.
