Dear RMT Member,
DEFEND JOBS, PAY AND CONDITIONS – TRAIN OPERATING COMPANIES
I write to advise you that the referendum has now closed, and the result is as follows: -
Are you prepared to accept the proposals?
Votes Cast: 15462
Voting ‘Yes’: 15283
Voting ‘No’: 179
I want to thank you for your patience, determination, and efforts during this dispute. The national dispute has now concluded, with you and your colleagues securing a successful outcome in defending your jobs, pay, conditions, and pensions.
This ends a period of national dispute, which started in March 2020 with what amounts to an industry-wide settlement that members of Network Rail and the Train Operating companies voted overwhelmingly to accept.
RMT members have stood united in our aspirations to defend the railway and secure jobs for the future. We entered this dispute together and have come out together with a united and stronger RMT Union.
Your efforts have demonstrated what our Union can achieve through solidarity and determination. You should all be incredibly proud of your actions and achievements during this dispute.
I will seek the implementation of this pay deal and ask for backpay to be issued as soon as possible. I will write to the companies to advise them of this result and press your company to deal with the matter. However, the implementation may be delayed as the TSSA has yet to commence a referendum on the offer while they seek a pay deal for managers where they have recognition.
Finally, thank you for your support and efforts during this dispute. I will continue to update you on developments.
Yours sincerely
Michael Lynch
General Secretary
