DISCIPLINARIES DURING INDUSTRIAL ACTION – SOUTH WESTERN RAILWAY

Our Ref: BR2/4/4

3rd July 2018

TO ALL SOUTH WESTERN RAILWAY COMMERCIAL GUARD MEMBERS AT BOURNEMOUTH AND WEYMOUTH

Dear Colleague,

OVERTIME AND REST DAY WORKING BAN CALLED

DISCIPLINARIES DURING INDUSTRIAL ACTION – SOUTH WESTERN RAILWAY

Firstly I want to thank and congratulate you all for the incredible support you have shown for your colleagues as demonstrated by the overwhelming ballot results that came in today. SWR cannot in any way doubt of the overwhelming support that exists for Frank and Steve who have been treated so appallingly by the company.

Having considered the ballot results the National Executive Committee has instructed all Commercial Guards at Bournemouth and Weymouth to take industrial action as follows: -

• With effect from 00.01 hours Tuesday 17th July 2018, until further notice, members are instructed not to carry out any rest day working.

We believe that the disciplinary process has been abused in these cases and the extreme punishments carried out are totally disproportionate. I urge you all to support the action which we hope will force SWR to reconsider their position and see the only fair conclusion to this dispute, which is the immediate reinstatement of Frank and Steve to their substantive roles without delay.

I will keep members informed of developments.

SUPPORT YOUR COLLEAGUES
SUPPORT THE ACTION

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash
General Secretary
