TO ALL RMT MEMBERS AT NETWORK RAIL

Dear Colleague

DISCOUNTED LEISURE TRAVEL WITH GWR – WALES & WESTERN ROUTE – NETWORK RAIL

I write to advise you that Network Rail staff in the Wales & Western Region will be granted access to the Greater Western Railway discounted leisure travel scheme. The discounted travel the scheme allows for is:-

“The friends and family discounted ticketing deal means you will be able to buy a maximum of four one-day rover tickets per fay for travel anywhere on GWR services at a cost of £6 per adult, £3 for children (aged five to 15) with under-fives travelling free. Each colleague will be able to purchase a maximum of 48 ‘day rover’ tickets over a 12-month period.”

The National Executive Committee have considered the discounted leisure travel scheme and while it does not go nearly far enough to satisfy this union’s aspirations on staff travel it is a welcome first step that this union would like to see expanded to include staff in other parts of the country.

I have written to Network Rail Regions and the TOCs that operate within those regions and asked for similar provisions to be provided. It should be noted that there is a Joint Working Party with Network Rail to explore the possibilities of a national deal for leisure travel for Network Rail staff.

I trust this keeps you fully advised on the matter and I will, of course, keep you informed on any further developments.

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash
