DISMISSAL – R. BROOKS – SOUTH WESTERN RAILWAY

Our Ref: BR2/14/1

TO ALL COMMERCIAL GUARD, GUARD AND TRAIN DRIVER MEMBERS AT WOKING

7th September 2017

Dear Colleague,

DISMISSAL – R. BROOKS – SOUTH WESTERN RAILWAY

I write further to my previous correspondence dated 30th August 2017 in relation to the above matter and where I informed you of the outrageous and unfair dismissal of our Brother Royston Brooks.

Unfortunately, the situation hasn’t changed and Royston still remains dismissed. As you are aware, Brother Brooks was dismissed for simply doing his job and this raises serious concerns that this same draconian punishment will be handed out to other members. You and your colleagues should be praised for dealing with volatile situations and adapting when necessary, not punished for forward safe thinking. The company have been informed of our dissatisfaction with their decision and have been advised that a dispute situation exists until our Brother is fully reinstated to his substantive role.

Ballot papers will be sent out to your home addresses on Monday 11th September 2017 and will need to be returned before the closing date of First Post, Tuesday 26th September 2017.

It is imperative that you use your vote to ensure we are able to act on your wishes and to ensure that we can send South Western Railway a clear message that we will not allow them to impose their draconian punishments on you and your colleagues. I urge you all to vote ‘Yes’ to both questions and ensure that we get a massive turnout in this ballot.

If you have not received a ballot paper by Friday 15th September 2017 then please contact the RMT Freephone Helpline urgently on 0800 376 3706 or the RMT Switch Board on 020 7387 4771 and ask for the industrial relations department, where a replacement ballot paper will be sent to you by first class post. Additionally, if you are aware of a colleague who has not received their ballot paper, ask them to call on one of the above numbers to update their details and to receive a replacement ballot paper.

MAKE SURE YOU VOTE
VOTE ‘YES’ FOR STRIKE ACTION
VOTE ‘YES’ FOR ACTION SHORT OF A STRIKE
DO NOT WASTE YOUR VOTE – RETURN YOUR VOTING PAPER

Yours sincerely
