DISMISSAL, D. JONES, GUARD, GLOUCESTER – GREAT WESTERN RAILWAY

Our Ref: BR2/4/1

4th June 2018

Dear Colleague

DISMISSAL, D. JONES, GUARD, GLOUCESTER – GREAT WESTERN RAILWAY

I have received a resolution from the Gloucester Branch with regards to the above matter, which is as follows:

“Further to the dismissal of Gloucester Guard David Jones, Gloucester RMT Branch calls upon the National Executive Committee to negotiate for the reinstatement to his substantive role. In the event that this is not achieved, we call upon the General Secretary to instigate a ballot of our Great Western Railway Guards at Gloucester for industrial action.”

The matter has been subject to recent consideration by your union’s National Executive Committee who note the sentiments contained within the resolution from our Gloucester Branch. The Executive Committee has instructed me to seek the immediate reinstatement of Brother David Jones to his substantive role and if this demand is not met, I will be progressing with a ballot for industrial action.

I am currently preparing a ballot matrix of all our GWR Guard members located at Gloucester and I would ask that you remind all members to notify the union of any changes to their membership records. Please ensure your details are up-to-date by contacting the RMT Head Office on 0207 387 4771 and ask for the Membership department. Alternatively, members can contact the RMT Freephone helpline on 0800 376 3706 or by emailing the helpline at info@rmt.org.uk and notifying them of any updates.

I trust this keeps you fully advised on the matter and I will, of course, keep you informed on any further developments.

Best wishes.

Mick Cash
General Secretary
